San Francisco | IP | H | R | ER | BB | SO | HR | ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Cain | 6.0 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 8 | 0 | 0.00 |
But Cain had two innings with really high pitch counts. He got out of trouble when he needed to. It was a game that showed Cain was read this season for Prime Time.
Cain however got no run support. The Giants batters were just as stymied through those innings as the Dodger hitters were.
Konts pitching in relief served up a home run to the Dodger pitcher Kershaw, helping his own open day cause sends a solo home run shot over the wall in center. That opened the gates to what proved to be a 4 run 8th inning. Kershaw's HR was all the Dodgers would need in spite of the three run padding.
So opening day was not what Giants fans were looking forward to. Cain's performance was outstanding but in the end counts for nothing as far as the team is concerned.
